Sparks: first birthday celebrations

A unique combination of artist spaces, sustainable retail, education and reuse is a world-first pilot project, with the ambition to breathe new life into even more buildings across the UK.
In May 2024 I was invited to capture Sparks' first birthday celebrations. It’s impossible not to feel joyful in Sparks, a creative department store with a difference, centering climate, equality and wellbeing.
Sparks Bristol, a pioneering store co-created by Global Goals Centre and Artspace Lifespace, marked its first anniversary with a vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and climate action. I was commissioned, via a referral from Sparks workshop store ownder Re_Thrindle, to document the energy and ethos of the store celebration through photography and videography.
The final video edit was featured on Sparks’ homepage, offering visitors an immediate sense of the store’s vibrancy and values. The photography was also used across social media and internal communications to amplify the impact of the anniversary.
